BeTA 2

GroupJive Beta2 "now with EventList integration".

BETA Testers needed :D

This BETA release of GroupJive now includes an *integration HACK* for EventList. This integration is "new" and in test phase only. EventList integration is "NOT" for live sites. This release will be the final feature edition release before we consider moving GroupJive to release candidate. Your testing helps accellerate the process and the eventual release of GroupJive.

If you are interested in testing the EventList *HACK* with us, please report all BUGs in GroupJive TRACKER at JoomlaCode. Thank you.

Drive to 1.6 (month in review 2007-08)
Written by Mark Raborn

Hello everyone from Team GroupJive

It's nice to be writing again and wishing each of you an outstanding Summer. There has been some very good work accomplished in the last 30 days and the time has come to inform the team of our position on the track.

We're happy to report that we're running the lead lap and we're
driving a new Car!

Our Chief Mechanic bolted some new "includes" onto the engine... and our car is running great! So much better in fact that we have decided to
update her number to GJ 1.6

             _____

   ___/__|_o,\____

'--O-(1.6)-O--'

Here comes that checkered flag!!!

That's not all... We've been fortunate enough to see some old friend around the track and we are expecting them on race day! The other champions scheduled to run this event are >>

  • the 1.1 car from Community Builder (yeah... they've been "Beat"ing everyone with that baby!)
  • the 1.0.2 car from FireBoard (I can't "Danialt" it, the news around the track is they could be superfast)
  • the 0.8.9 car from EventList (yep, the EL team clocked in just in time to indicate where the race will be held this year. Thanks EL!)

and here's that news... the whole field will be racing at the new Joomla! 1.0.13 Track opened recently in California

Team GroupJive is definitely excited about the race. The word on the street is that the Starters Gun will "sound off" September 15th, 2007.

We expect this to be a great season for all race fans... (but until it starts) ... here is the pre-race schedule for practice laps prior to the race ~>

  1. GroupJive 1.6 alpha car (scheduled for "final alpha laps" early this week August 13th-16th)
  2. GroupJive 1.6 beta car (expected roll out prior to August 17th)
  3. GroupJive 1.6 RC car (expected to run "high speed" time trials starting September 1st)
  4. GroupJive 1.6 Stable = RACE DAY! September 15th, 2007

There you have it Race fans.

^ You can get the latest race news at http://groupjive.org.
# You can also visit the pits at
http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/groupjive

Oh... and one more thing

Time trials and practice driving are open to all drivers. Even if you've missed out on some of the pre-season, that's OK with us... the GroupJive team continues where it began... and that is "hoping you'll run laps with us". The "time is now" to make the final adjustments that are going to give our team a winner. We’re hoping for as much feedback as possible. And to lay it on the line... we're asking you for exactly that.

Jump in and test your GJ 1.6 car out today!!!

Thanks for joining us here at GroupSports.

We'd like to thank our Producers (Michael Perthel and Anna Tannenberg) without whom, this great race day broadcast would not be possible. If you see Micha or Anna around the track this season, say hi. They've truly made this Race Day a driving passion for all of us.

GroupJive 1.6 Ready for Testing
Written by Mark Raborn

GroupJive 1.6 "The time is now!"

1.) Download GroupJive1.6_alpha2 at Joomlacode.org

2.) Install with Joomla 1.0.13 (yes... that's right!!)

3.) Report your Bugs here at GroupJive Tracker

Integration:
+ Community Builder 1.1 (the new release available here)
+ FireBoard 1..0.2 Release Candidate (available here)

Now is the time to help all of us at Project GroupJive finish the "Drive to 1.6" STABLE.

  • Install GroupJive 1.6
  • Integrate with FireBoard and Community Builder (see the readme.txt in GJ package)
  • Give us your feedback at http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/groupjive/tracker
.... obviously there is a lot of development going on in Joomla right now (Joomla 1.0.13, new CB, new FireBoard, new EventList). Our goal for GroupJive "stable" has always been to integrate seemlessly with these components. The 1.6 release is focused on that goal. We're asking for your help.

Please keep the information coming in. We have labled GroupJive 1.6 as alpha 1 for a limited time. It contains many BUG FIXES as reported by you at our Project GroupJive Tracker. The code however is ready for Beta 1 classification and we believe we can move through to Release Candidate very quickly because most of the work has already been done. We are asking for your help in testing "RIGHT NOW!"

Review the list here of the components that we are testing against. Report all Bugs using tracker and please be as descriptive as possible in your reporting.

There are some excellent tips for Bug Reporting at Joomla.org.

Thanks everyone.

AND ALSO >>> Project GroupJive would like to thank the Joomla! Community for supporting and embracing the "Drive to 1.6". You have made GroupJive a priority and we intend to respond. We have implemented changes in GroupJive to simplify coding so that your suggestions, bug reporting and ideas can be responded to quickly. We are here to say thanks and to work hard for the future of GroupJive! "Thank you" to the community.

Look out STABLE..., here we come!

GroupJive joins the "clicked and famous"

GroupJive has it's 15 minutes of FAME !!

You have made us a top download at joomlacode.org

....well, almost

It appears as though GroupJive has topped the charts with an incredible week at joomlacode.org. Wow!!!

As much as we'd like to take credit for the screenshot above, it's possible that the good folks at joomlacode may have somehow inadvertantly boosted our numbers. Make no mistake, we aspire every day to fill these big shoes and one day we may get there.

Our day in the spotlight seems due to a 30,000 download boost to one of our "modules". It seems "joomla-people" are "really interested" in "LATEST BULLETINS" module. So interested in fact that you've downloaded it 30,000 times.

Hey, that "IS" motivating. So we're getting right to work on version 2.0

Thanks for the 15 minutes of fame joomlacode. We hope to live up to the hype as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Project GroupJive
