Hello people,
As you may have noticed the development of Groupjive hasn't proceeded like you excpected.
Groupjive is an Open Source project. This means everybody can support this project. This could be done in several ways. Right now we have the problem that the team is too small to make sure development is going on without any time gaps (like the last weeks). To clearify: we don't want to kill this project and we don't want a fork of this component. But the last weeks we had personal things to do and so not enough time for Groupjive.
Right now we do all by ourselves - something here, something there. To split all team functions between several people would make things easier and could help to improve Groupjive.
We decided to ask you for help. At this point I want to use the opportunity to show you some positions that could be filled:
- Task Coordinator - let me explain: If someone reports a bug or gives some improvement notes or posts a hack, the Task Coordinator creates a task at joomlacode.org. So the developers only need to check the tasks, assign and solve them. So work is made easier for the developers. It's important to write a task in a way the developer understands ;)
- Design / Usability Expert - we need some usability improvements - we are no designers and usability experts - so we need someone to tell us where usability and design could be improved
- Planning Coordinator - creates workflow ideas - writes papers for future development - someone who knows what people want and brings these ideas together with the current and future development.
- Translation Coordinator - maintains language strings and coordinates translators work (we have a tool for collecting language strings - so this is IMO an easy job)
- Support Services - some advanced users can support others. This also includes creating some tutorials and documentation.
- Tester - some good testers are needed to check packages before a release - we need someone who knows how to test. Security checks should be also included - try to hack Groupjive!
- Developers - of course. If you want to clean up the code of 10+ former developers and add your own, then you are welcome.
