I have a strange problem. In an approval group, a user applies for membership.
When group admin clicks on "MANAGE pending users" he directly comes to "All pending users have been Activated".
In back-end the applying member now is registered in the group but the user cannot access the group from the front-end: "Hello, This group approves it\'s members. You are not currently a member of this group. You can request to join the group. The manager will review your request and respond."

Have you tried reversing the changes you made to members.php for the Language problem? Does that fix this issue? I'll try to do some more testing over here when I get a free minute.

Yes, i tried with the original members.php and no luck. Trying to reverse some other hacks I found here for common problems but still no improvement.

I am thinking of reinstalling. I have a live site and already quite a lot of groups created. Would a simple overwriting of the files from the install package via ftp work? Or do I need to uninstall/reinstall?

I THINK an ftp over write should be OK... I do it all the time with the amount of core changes I do on my test site... If you do an un-install you will loose all the DB entries and need to re-create your groups for sure. That is why we back everything up, right?

I fixed the problem by overwriting the files in com_groupjive/gj. Now I need to apply the hacks one by one to determine which hack breaks the function.
