Let me say firstly that I have the utmost respect for anyone that develops open-source software. And I recognize the time and effort it takes with very little thanks.

Having said that, if you do put out open-source software you do take on a certain responsibility to the people who place their trust in you by using your product. I've seen no activity whatsever from the development team or the forum moderators this year.

Whether your users are developing websites for others, are developing their own website and trying to make a living, doing a non-profit website or doing it just for fun, I'm sure they join me in asking if this very valuable and important component is still alive?

That sad part is that moonstar, who is busy developing his own website, and myself (also busy trying to bring my own website live) have spent more time helping users on this forum than the developers and moderators.

Hi Terry,
I mean that the help between the users is, in fact, what it makes a community

For at least two of the developers i know about things going on with deep impact in theyr private live / family.

So I respect that here is a longer phase of silence after a much longer period of heavy work for all of us wich brings groupjive to this stable and productive status.

Yes, groupjive is not finished - but it is good enough for my production site with more than 1.000 users.

At least, our developers will come back - for sure !

I wasn´t here active for a long time too.
This was caused mainly by my job and have effected my whole live...

Actually i use my small freetime to do some beta testing for another Joomla component community, but i ´ll come back too!

Sunny regards

Well said Terry and thanks for the reply kurtsteiner. Yes, I am trying to help others users as much as I can since me too, have a day job. I would be so great if the developer can further develop this important component.

Oh and Terry, hehe, sorry, I am a female.

Hi everyone

Two job changes for two team members and our little girl grew up and met a boy.

Thanks to all for communicating. Development will continue at some point. It's a matter of when. Real life has taken front seat and the project of GroupJive (as fun as it is), is a completely free donation of time and energy and will never exceed the real priorities of life (unless we change the model of the project). That means in simple language that it does not come first or above those things that care for families, children and home life.

Thanks to EVERYONE who has talked, chatted, posted and installed the software. You make the place fun and worthwhile. Please continue.

When time permits, we will (with good hopes) return.
Thanks
Mark

Dear Mark, nice to read from you and your new family member
All my good wishes for your wife, children and you !

By the way, a good question:

Why not changing the license model of groupjive?

For me it is a very usefull component and it makes my website a real community one.

I think out there, a lot of groupjive user think the same way and a part of it, like me, are willing to pay for a reliable development plan to make it better and more usefull...

What do you, the other developers and the other members think about that?

Sunny regards
